Forest School
What is Forest School?
Forest school is an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in a natural environment.
Forest school is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.
What we would like to achieve at Forest School?
Through forest school, our aim is to provide regular and long term sessions which will encourage and inspire children of any age a positive outdoor experience. When outdoors we encourage children to explore and discover new things and let their imagination run wild.
Children are able to choose, initiate and drive their own learning and development. This will also lead to the children experiencing appropriate risk and challenges throughout their time outdoors.
Through outdoor experiences we aim for the children to develop a positive relationship with themselves and others, and develop a strong, positive relationship with the natural world.
Most of all we aim to ensure that our Forest school sessions are fun and stimulating experiences for the children
Natalie Dunnett is currently working her way through her Forest School Level 3 qualification, she hopes to be fully qualified in September 2017.
Once qualified we will be able to offer fully accredited Forest School sessions within our nursery environment and Natalie will also be able to offer training sessions to other staff to ensure that we can fully provide fun, stimulating outdoor experiences.
