Background
It is the primary objective of Fair City Munchkins Day Nursery Ltd to provide the highest standards of care and education for all children enrolled in our nursery. To provide high quality education and childcare where young children can investigate and explore a well planned, imaginative and challenging environment both indoors and outside , where they are encouraged to grow and develop at their own pace and where every day is varied, stimulating, exciting and, above all, FUN!
Fair City Munchkins aim to provide a friendly, clean, comfortable, safe and secure environment which the children will find stimulating and challenging, and where enjoyment and fun are linked with discovery and learning.
Staff are sensitive and responsive to the individual needs of each child.
To meet the foregoing Fair City Munchkins are committed to:

- Ensuring that our staff are selected, trained and supervised to meet the need of the children in their care.

Fair City Munchkins provide a safe, secure, welcoming and happy environment for children from the ages of birth to 8 years old.
We provide quality experiences for children aged 0 to 3 years by following the guidance contained in the Pre-Birth to Three Document – Positive Outcomes for Scotland’s Children and Families.
We follow the Curriculum for Excellence for children aged 3 to 5 years in order to provide quality activities and experiences to promote each child’s development and learning in all 8 areas of the curriculum and to apply the GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child) approach to enable each child to become a confident individual, an effective contributor, a successful learner and a responsible citizen.
We refer to and follow best practice as indicated by the National Care Standards (Early Education and Childcare up to the age of 16); Building the Ambition, How Good is Our Early Learning and Childcare and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Codes of Practice.
Fair City Munchkins we:
- Treat every child as an individual and meet additional needs regardless of gender, race, nationality and culture without discriminating.
- Encourage equal opportunities for all children and adults involves in the nursery.
- Recognise the value of parent input and encourage them to share in their children’s learning.
- Promote positive behaviour by praising, encouraging, and being attentive to the needs of the children.
- Continually assess the guidance from all sources, particularly government departments and have best practice in all areas.
- Value staff highly and ensure that every opportunity is given to each staff member to develop their personal skills and to broaden their knowledge and skills in caring for and educating the children in the nursery; and
- Continue the excellent work parents have started! We believe that learning is a shared experience and communication between home and nursery is vital. We aim to provide as many opportunities as possible to enable parents/carers to feel fully involved in their child’s learning and development. Family contributions enrich our children’s lives!
